The Story of Rhythm Racing
It all started because we like to ride bicycles. The feeling of freedom that comes from going out for a ride on two wheels is hard to match.
At some point, each one of us decided that not only did we want to ride bikes, but we wanted to go fast. As we began to explore the world of amateur racing, we yearned for a team where we could find camaraderie, but also a competitive desire to achieve our best.
In three seasons, we have achieved more than we could have ever imagined on the race course – just as importantly – and at the same time, we have maintained a team that genuinely enjoys training and hanging out together, and pushing each other to reach our potential. Comprised of approximately 20 people we are a small team by design that strives to create a supportive environment from which to pursue individual goals.
Competing mainly on the road in races in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and much of the Midwest we also enjoy the cyclocross season equally as much starting in September through January. With the addition of the Chicago Velo Campus there is likely to be a growing number of track cyclists in our ranks as we are always eager to find another reason to be on the bike.
We try not to get too caught up in training and racing all the time and give back to the sport and causes that we believe elicit the same feeling that we get from the sport we love. We raise money for our charity sponsor, Climate Cycle, and provide student chaperone’s for their annual “Ride to Recharge” which raises money to teach Chicago School children to help green our world. We participate in the Illinois Cycling Association in helping to make the sport better for all of us, and are working towards putting on our first race this May.
